Despite all the advantages of digitization, we recommend to all to preserve the original photographic material. Under the proper conditions have slides and black and white originals will keep for several hundred years (Kodachrome and Fuji Chrome). The best digital alternative gets albeit 1000 years but is expensive and not widely available. When scanning slides, we encounter a still more than the optimal condition of 50 years old Kodachrome slides. The condition may vary by type of film and in each case differ.
